Ile Aux Cerfs
n the East, you will find Grand River South East, the longest river of the island where boats rides upstream are organised. An absolute must is Ile aux Cerfs (see: Tours/Excursions), which is a short boat trip off the mainland. It has the finest white beaches imaginable.

A visit to Mauritius cannot be complete without spending a day on that island. There are two restaurants to indulge your taste for local cuisine.

crater in Curepipe, Grand Bassin Lake, the Black River Gorges, the National Park which is the home of many endangered species of plants and birds including The Mauritius Kestrel and the Pink Pigeon, and Chamarel the Land of Seven Colours. The view of the sea from the heights of Chamarel is most spectacular. 

A must is The Mauritius Glass Gallery at the major roundabout of Phoenix, with its attractive and fascinating range of recycled glass products. One can watch the glass blowers at work.  

A word of advice to end it all. Let not the small size of Mauritius deceive the visitor. The beauty of the island is fascinating beyond imagination. It has a lot to offer and it is said that the Mauritian awaits every tourist with a smile. So come! It is the ideal place for a holiday.
